MURC is an opportunity for UBC undergraduate students to showcase their research with members of our community including faculty members, student colleagues, family, and friends. Student presenters may present in one of three formats; oral, poster, or virtual. We are planning for the 21st annual MURC to be in-person (with an online component) on March 16th, 2024.
The role of a MURC Review Committee member is to provide constructive feedback on abstract applications submitted by students hoping to present their research. This process ensures high-quality presentations, as well as providing students with an opportunity to practice submitting a conference abstract for a multidisciplinary audience.
The chart below highlights important dates to consider in this commitment:
January 22nd, 2024
Review Committee members receive their package of digital abstracts
January 22nd – February 5th, 2023
Committee members read and provide feedback on each abstract
February 12th, 2023
Deadline for Review Committee members to return their digital abstract packages (with feedback)
The expected time commitment to review 20 abstracts is about 5 hours in January/February 2023. To make reviewing more accessible, we have a sliding scale of abstract review available on the sign-up form.
