On behalf of Greg Smith, Safety Program Director, Forestry

Welcome to Autumn weather in Vancouver – with the days getting shorter and daylight savings ending on November 6th, UBC Vancouver has some resources available should you be on campus late at night:

Safewalk – AMS of UBC

AMS Safewalk is a student-run safety service designed for anyone on UBC Campus who is travelling alone. The service is intended to give safe means of accompaniment when no other form is available.

Emergency Blue Phones – Campus Security

Use the Blue Phones on campus if:

  • A crime is witnessed
  • You feel unsafe and need assistance
  • You are ill or require medical attention
  • You require assistance or directions

UBC Safe Vancouver App

A free mobile safety app for the UBC Vancouver campus.

Emergency Ride Home

The Emergency Ride Home (ERH) program provides commuters who regularly walk, bike, take transit, vanpool, and carpool with a reliable ride home via a cab, car-share, or ride-hailing when an emergency arises and they cannot commute home by how they commuted to school or work that day. Campus + Community Planning will reimburse you for 90% of the cost (before tip)!
