As my term as the Forestry Undergraduate Society (FUS) President comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new program that we have initiated – the FUS Community Pantry. This pantry is located in the FUS Lounge, Room 1618, and is open to anyone who needs food – no questions asked.

The issue of food insecurity is a growing concern, and we believe that this program will help our community by providing food assistance to those in need. The pantry is stocked with dry goods and canned foods that have been donated by our students, and we hope that everyone in our faculty will also contribute to this initiative by donating non-perishable food items.

If anyone would like to donate any leftover food that has been frozen, they can¬†place it in the freezer next to the community pantry. This will help us to provide more food options and reduce food waste.¬†To accommodate those with dietary restrictions, please don’t forget to label your donations with the date it was donated along with any food allergens they might contain.

We encourage everyone to donate what they can and to help bring awareness to the issue of food insecurity in our community. Your donations will make a significant impact on the success of this program and more importantly help ensure that those who need it have access to food.

Although we have just set up the community pantry, we hope that it will continue to grow and be sustained for many years to come. With the winter term ending soon, we hope that everyone will continue to contribute in the coming summer and winter terms. By working together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of those in our community.
